IVF Due Date Calculator

If you have conceived through IVF, calculating your due date is slightly different than with natural conception. Because we know the exact age of the embryo and the date it was transferred, your estimated due date is often very precise.

Pro Tip

Unlike natural conception, IVF due dates are much more accurate because the exact moment of embryo transfer is known.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the calculation different?

In natural conception, we use the first day of your last period. In IVF, we know the exact age of the embryo (usually 3 or 5 days) when it is transferred, allowing for a more accurate calculation.

What is a 'Day 5' transfer?

A Day 5 transfer means the embryo was grown in the lab for five days until it reached the blastocyst stage. This is common in modern IVF procedures.

How accurate is the IVF due date?

It is considered highly accurate. However, remember that only about 5% of babies are actually born on their estimated due date!

When should I tell my midwife?

You can share this estimated date with your healthcare team as soon as you have a positive pregnancy test. They will use this information to schedule your first scans.
