Frequently Asked Questions

What are 'Paid Weeks'?

Term-time staff usually work 38 or 39 weeks. However, they are also entitled to paid holiday, which often brings the 'paid weeks' total up to 43 or 44 weeks. Check your contract for the exact number.

Is the salary paid monthly?

Yes. Even though you only work during term time, your annual salary is usually divided by 12 and paid in equal monthly installments, including during the summer holidays.

What does 'Pro-Rata' mean?

It means 'in proportion'. If a job is advertised at £25,000 FTE but you work 30 hours instead of 37, your pro-rata salary will be lower because it's in proportion to your hours.

Do I get holiday pay?

Yes. Under UK law, all workers are entitled to paid holiday. For term-time staff, this is usually 'wrapped up' into the annual salary calculation rather than being taken as separate days off.
