What Is Chiron?

Chiron is a real object, unlike several points in this part of chart. Discovered in 1977 by astronomer Charles Kowal, it is a minor planet classified as a centaur, a class of bodies that behave partly like asteroids and partly like comets. It orbits between Saturn and Uranus and astrologers read that position symbolically too, a bridge between Saturn's hard structures and Uranus's liberation.

The name comes from Greek mythology. Chiron centaur was unlike his wild kin, a healer, teacher and mentor to heroes.
